Research

Like a lot of people doing research in English in Spain, I have inevitably been drawn towards the contrastive study of both English and Spanish. I have carried out research into the acquisition of English phonology by Spanish Learners, contrastive politeness studies, grammaticalization, translation and voice quality in English and Spanish television commercials. My research encompasses gender, identity, and stereotypes. Recently my research has focused on facework in telecollaboration between peers learning languages and in TV interviews.
